Do you believe in superheroes? How about a woman superhero? You know, superheroes don't really have to the be type that you see on TV. They are human beings who have normal lives but decide to be extraordinary. Look at Mommy Maureen.
Mommy Maurene is a mom of 3 with 2 daughters (15 & 11) and a 3-year old son whom she still breastfeeds up to now and is happily married to her husband, Ricky, for 16 years. Her love for chemical-free and handmade products led her to open 3 businesses aside from her full-time day job at an academy in Manila.
She makes homemade linen spray for family consumption but since her friends buy from her from time to time, she decided to sell them as well. She is also managing a livelihood for women in the community who produce handwoven bags, and recently opened her latest business venture, the Salt Room - Dry Salt Therapy, a natural and unique therapy for healthy well-being.

Everything used to be for personal enjoyment and satisfaction only while earning additional income for a family of 5 until she committed herself to learn more about the business and its clients, partners, weavers, and consumers. More than anything else, she wanted to help the women weavers in their community.
This is a woven bag designed by Mommy Mauren which she then forwards to the women who weave for production. Check them out here
And her most recent business is Saltation - the Salt Room in QC.
According to her, managing everything helped her have a more meaningful life and be more healthy and happy together with her family. If she can give a piece of advice to those who want to pursue a small business, she said that it should start by doing what you want to do and figure out why you want to do it, begin with a purpose and values and cultivate it. Her secret to success is having her family by her side all throughout this journey. With a supportive husband, thoughtful daughters, a helping hand from someone who has been working for them for 6 years now, their household help, and with lots of perseverance, she was able to make it through it all.
May we all be inspired to be creative, to think outside of the box, leave our comfort zone, try and explore just like Mommy Maureen. Life is short, after all, we might as well do what we feel we need to do before it's taken away from us.
